Reading Wrap Up
Hey everyone!
So I’m putting my TBR picks and my monthly wrap up into the same blog this time because I only read one book (the stats for April are not very exciting (or are they?….no…no their not….)
So the only book I ended up reading was When The Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker. You can read my review for that book HERE. So these stats are mostly for that one book, but I do have other pieces that aren’t related to the books I’m reading but also reading habits so I thought it would still be good to include them. I’ve put the March stats in as well so you can see how they changed from one month to the next. (I’m thinking about doing that in each wrap up because I thought it might be interesting)
The March Stats
| # Books | Pages | Series Started | Series Finished | 5 Stars | eBook | Paper | Unhaul | Buy |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 784 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 0 |
The April Stats
| # Books | Pages | Series Started | Series Finished | 5 Stars | eBook | Paper | Unhaul | Buy |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 690 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 2 |
So that’s really it! I did purchase two books through buying blind date with a book boxes because, lets be real, those are so fun. I have added both of those books to my TBR tin of doom so it’ll just be a matter of time! I hope next month I can come back with some more exciting stats for you. Maybe I’ll read two whole books. The scandal.
On to the next part!
TBR Tin of Doom
Okay, so I’ve sort of come up with a very basic rule for this TBR Tin. If I do not read the book that I have selected, that book goes back into the TBR tin and has the chance to be selected again. The way I see it, if I punish myself for not finishing or getting to a book within the month, I’m not going to want to pick any books from the tin ever. At the end of the day, this is fun for me. I want to read and talk with people about my reading and share my thoughts. If I punish myself for not having the time to read, I don’t think it will be fun for me anymore. So there we have it.
With that being said, I am in the process of reading The Wren in the Holly Library by K.A. Linde from last months tin pick. I didn’t start it until the 28th so it’s not a last month read. This means that Kalyna the Soothsayer by Elijah Kinch Spector went back into the tin. I did still choose to pick three books from the tin anyways. Thankfully, they’re mostly shorter books so reading a couple of them feels like it might be doable (if life decides to be kind to me this month…if).

Synopsis from Goodreads
Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord’s daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.
Against her stern father’s wishes and society’s expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle’s laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.
The story’s shocking twists and turns, augmented with real, sinister period photos, will make this dazzling debut from author Kerri Maniscalco impossible to forget.

Synopsis from Goodreads
You have been selected to attend Zodiac Academy, where your star sign defines your destiny.
If you’re one of the Fae, elemental magic is in your blood. And apparently it’s in ours. As twins born in the month of Gemini, we’re a rare breed even in this academy of supernatural a-holes.
Changelings were outlawed hundreds of years ago but I guess our birth parents didn’t get the memo. Which means we’re totally unprepared for the ruthless world of Fae.
Air. Fire. Water. Earth.
No one has ever harnessed all four of them, until we arrived. And it hasn’t made us any friends so far.
As the rarest Elementals ever known, we’re already a threat to the four celestial heirs; the popular, vindictive bullies who happen to be some of the hottest guys we’ve ever seen. It doesn’t help that they’re the most dangerous beasts in the Academy. And probably on earth too.
Our fates are intertwined, but they want us gone. They’ve only got until the lunar eclipse to force us out and they’ll stop at nothing to succeed.
We never knew we had a birthright to live up to but now that we do, we intend to claim our throne.
We can’t expect any help from the faculty when it comes to defending ourselves. So if the dragon shifters want some target practice, the werewolves want someone to hunt or the vampires fancy a snack then we have to be ready. But we’ve been looking after each other for a long time and fighting back is in our blood.
Today’s horoscope: totally screwed.

Synopsis from Goodreads
The stunningly original, must-read fantasy of 2018 follows two fiercely independent young women, centuries apart, who hold the power to save their world…or doom it.
When assassins ambush her best friend, Rielle Dardenne risks everything to save him, exposing herself as one of a pair of prophesied queens: a queen of light, and a queen of blood. To prove she is the Sun Queen, Rielle must endure seven elemental magic trials. If she fails, she will be executed…unless the trials kill her first.
One thousand years later, the legend of Queen Rielle is a fairy tale to Eliana Ferracora. A bounty hunter for the Undying Empire, Eliana believes herself untouchable–until her mother vanishes. To find her, Eliana joins a rebel captain and discovers that the evil at the empire’s heart is more terrible than she ever imagined.
As Rielle and Eliana fight in a cosmic war that spans millennia, their stories intersect, and the shocking connections between them ultimately determine the fate of their world–and of each other.
So that’s it! My April wrap-up and my May TBR in one big blog although it’s probably not really that large. I’m not sure. I’m still new to this. I’m having fun though!
If you have any comments, questions, snarky remarks or dad jokes (still waiting on those dad jokes people) please leave a comment below! I’ll be back next Sunday with another blog about something…I’m hoping a book review but we’ll see what happens!
