Hello friends!!!
I’m sorry that it’s been so long. I promised you an extra post last week, and then instead you got radio silence. That’s on me. I’ve had a serious lack of motivation, and seasonal depression is hitting rough this time around. That’s not really a good excuse. As small as my audience might be, you still deserve better. You at least deserve to know nothing is coming.
Anywho, let’s not dilly dally and get into it!

We are back in the world of Dungeon Crawler Carl, and the books are starting to get really thick. This book takes place on the Fifth Floor of the dungeon, where the crawlers are split up into areas called “bubbles”. These bubbles have four quadrants, each with a castle. There is a nice diagram in the book that explains this for you visually, which I personally am very happy to see.
As you can imagine, things are heating up. This is the fifth floor where Carl and Donut have to survive. The fifth floor of dealing with an increasingly unhinged AI and insane rules that are literally there to kill you. It’s a lot. You meet some new crawlers here, and you can see how much of “a lot” it truly is. This book, while still funny, sprinkles in some more of the serious tone. You truly begin to feel the weight of the situation and how it is getting to the crawlers. It does this without completely changing the entire tone of the book. It’s still funny. Still weird.
I personally really enjoyed seeing the serious side come out. It helped me feel even more connected to the characters and what they are going through (as much as a person not participating in a death dungeon can connect anyway). I feel like we are getting that shift in Carl that has been coming, and I’m honestly not sure how it’s going to turn out. I still love Carl’s character, and I love Donut, of course. I don’t see that changing anytime soon. I am a bit worried about Carl, but I think that would be normal in any of these books. We will just have to see how everything plays out on the next floor.

Thus far, this series has been worth the hype to read. It honestly felt like it just came out of nowhere and took over my social media feed. It has been so enjoyable to read. The characters and the plot line have been entertaining and I’m always interested to see what the next floor will be like and what crazy plan Carl will come up with.
This book is probably up there as one of my favorites in the series so far. It was one that provided me with entertainment the entire way through without feeling like it was as long as it was. I’m really falling in love with all of these characters, and I will be devastated if anything were to happen to them (especially Donut or Mongo).
All in all, I think I just have to give this book a 5-star. I think it has earned it.
