Hello friends!!
A quick announcement before we get into it. I will be taking off next week as it is the Holidays and I will be spending time with family. That means there will be no book blog post on December 28th!
It is finally time! I have finished making the spreads for my 2026 Reading Journal, and I am here to share it with you. A few things you should probably know before we really get into it. This is only my second year making my own reading journal. I have previously tried to use pre-made ones, but I always have an issue with feeling like I’m obligated to fill out every single thing that is available. I made the decision last year that I should just create a reading journal with only the pieces that I want. My thought was, if I only fill the journal with spreads that I am interested in filling out, I’ll be more likely to use it. So far, that has continued to be true!
I am using the same journal I used last year. I don’t do full review spreads for the books I read, and I use it mostly to track certain data. I also do reviews on this blog, bookstagram, and occasionally Goodreads and StoryGraph. It would be too much to commit myself to also creating pretty spreads for the reviews to put in my journal. I still have plenty of space in my journal, and I will probably be able to include quite a few years into one journal.
The journal itself is from Archer & Olive. The majority of the supplies that I used are from JournalSay and StationaryPal. I don’t have a link to all the products I used but if that’s something you are interested in, let me know and I’ll make one!
On to the journal!
The Journal

The title page! I want you to know that I re-did this entire page. Originally, I had this little door and a window and what looked like an old cottage type style, but I hated it. Every time I made a new spread, and I looked at that page, I was like, “this is just not fitting the vibe”. In the end, this is what I created. I did hand-lettering for the first time through this journal so it’s not perfect but I had fun. I went with an apothecary/botanical theme for 2026 (last year it was an academic theme).

These are basically the informational pages. I created a rating guide, which is the same guide I used throughout this year. I reserve 5 stars for those books that I will re-read someday. I also chose colors to suit my theme to represent those ratings throughout the journal.
I chose three goals for this year. I use the title of goals, but I am not treating them as a requirement. If I don’t reach them, I won’t beat myself up. This is a hobby I enjoy and forcing myself to hit a requirement and experiencing something negative when I don’t is a surefire way to make me stop.

This is my version of the bookshelf tracker! There are 45 potions on these shelves and each time I finish a book, I’ll fill in a potion bottle. It took, so incredibly long to create this spread but I’m very happy how it came out. I wanted to do something a little different than a bookshelf this year and this is what I came up with!

This is my series tracker for 2026! I will still continue to have a series tracker on this blog and keep that updated (although I haven’t done very well with that this year, I admit). These are just series that I’d like to try and focus on more during 2026. This is by no means the only series I have started, and that are still ongoing. Honestly, I’m not sure what that number is, and I don’t think I want to know.

The Book Log! I made this using the dutch door method where the inside page has been cut out so you can see the decoration around the edges. I made it with enough space for 71 books which is waaaay more than I read in a year but I would rather have too much space than not enough so here we are!

Apologies for the photos on this. I couldn’t figure out the best way to insert them into the blog but these are the pages for my monthly tracker. This is a new spread for me this year and I want to use it to see a visual representation of how long it takes me to finish books. I just thought that would be fun to track this year and if it is something I enjoy doing, I’ll probably do it again next year!

The monthly stats page! I genuinely enjoyed this page last year so I definitely needed to bring it back. It lets me see the changes between the months of a few different statistics I want to track. Keeping it on one easy page is helpful for when I do my monthly wrap-up posts.

The last two pages! The challenges. Both of these challenges were created by booksnadlala. I saw these are her YouTube channel and they sounded like interesting challenges to do. I wanted to do something other than the Book Bingo that I did last year. This gives me two different challenges to try to accomplish each month; one for title and one for cover. I don’t do a lot of challenges typically but I wanted to try something new. These challenges also seem like a good way for me to pick up a book that I might not normally grab.
And that’s it! That is my 2026 book journal! I feel like there must be a better way for me to put this into blog form but this is what I came up with this time. I’ll have to work on that next year. I had a lot of fun creating these spreads and it brings me joy to put together something that I find to be aesthetically pleasing. It’s a hobby the co-exists with my hobby of reading and that makes it that much more special. I hope you enjoyed seeing what I have created. Until next time!
Bye friends!!!
