Hello friends!!!!

August has ended. Holy crap. I just don’t know how the months keep getting away from me but, here we are. I ended up reading about what I normally get to for this month. One of these days I’ll get another book in and that might be my goal in October. Next month, one of my anticipated game releases comes out and so I know that will be cutting into my reading time, so I have no illusion that I’ll read more than I normally do. That being said, I could be surprised!!

I did manage to unhaul two books. In a way though, it’s not a true unhaul. I got a mystery book box that I was going to review. In the end, I didn’t like the books I got and the box itself was underwhelming for me. I decided it wasn’t worth doing the review and I put the books off to the side that I could donate or put in a little free library not too far from my house.

I’ve got 3 books on the TBR list as per usual. I don’t usually get to the 3rd book, but I like to have one off to the side just in case. This time, to pick my books I selected two of the books I recently bought and then I had my boyfriend pick the last one. I have a cart that I keep only TBR books on. I counted how many books I had on the cart (65) and had my boyfriend pick a number. I wanted to switch it up from using the TBR Tin of Doom.

Without further ado, here are the books for September.

Book 1~~~

This is the second book in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. I just really wanted to continue with the series and to be perfectly honest, I actually started reading it already.

Synopsis from Goodreads

“The training levels have concluded. Now the games may truly begin.”

The ratings and views are off the chart. The fans just can’t get enough. The dungeon gets more dangerous each day. But in a grinder designed to chew up and spit out crawlers by the millions, Carl and Princess Donut need to work harder than ever just to survive.

They call it the Over City. A sprawling, once-thriving metropolis devastated by a mysterious calamity. But these streets are far from abandoned. An undead circus trawls the ruins. Murdered prostitutes rain from the sky. An ancient spell is finally ready to reveal its dark purpose.

Carl still has no pants.

They call it Dungeon Crawler World. For Carl and Donut, it’s anything but a game.

Book 2~~~

This second book is another one from my recent haul. I have just heard a lot about this book and really wanted to give it a go. I genuinely am not sure if I’ll like it but I have hopes.

Synopsis from Goodreads

Holy work sometimes requires unholy deeds.

Brother Diaz has been summoned to the Sacred City, where he is certain a commendation and grand holy assignment awaits him. But his new flock is made up of unrepentant murderers, practitioners of ghastly magic, and outright monsters. The mission he is tasked with will require bloody measures from them all in order to achieve its righteous ends.

Elves lurk at our borders and hunger for our flesh, while greedy princes care for nothing but their own ambitions and comfort. With a hellish journey before him, it’s a good thing Brother Diaz has the devils on his side.

Book 3~~~

This book is the one that I had my boyfriend randomly select a number to pick. I don’t remember why I picked it up initially but I think I got it on sale at Book Outlet and it seemed interesting. Plus I like the cover.

Synopsis from Goodreads

The Lost Apothecary meets Dead Dead Girls in this fast-paced, STEMinist adventure.

Debut author Kate Khavari deftly entwines a pulse-pounding mystery with the struggles of a woman in a male-dominated field in 1923 London.

Newly minted research assistant Saffron Everleigh is determined to blaze a new trail at the University College London, but with her colleagues’ beliefs about women’s academic inabilities and not-so-subtle hints that her deceased father’s reputation paved her way into the botany department, she feels stymied at every turn.

When she attends a dinner party for the school, she expects to engage in conversations about the university’s large expedition to the Amazon. What she doesn’t expect is for Mrs. Henry, one of the professors’ wives, to drop to the floor, poisoned by an unknown toxin.

Dr. Maxwell, Saffron’s mentor, is the main suspect and evidence quickly mounts. Joined by fellow researcher–and potential romantic interest–Alexander Ashton, Saffron uses her knowledge of botany as she explores steamy greenhouses, dark gardens, and deadly poisons to clear Maxwell’s name.

Will she be able to uncover the truth, or will her investigation land her on the murderer’s list, in this entertaining examination of society’s expectations?

And that’s everything for this month. I keep adding more series to my list (which I think actually needs some updating) and I really need to finish a series somewhere here. I’ve been thinking that I really need to make a focus on series once and a while. I’m trying to figure out a creative way to do it that might encourage me more to focus on that but as of right now the only series I’m invested in continuing to actively work on is the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. If you have any thoughts or suggestions please leave a comment!

See you all next time!

Bye friends!!!!
