Hello friends!!!

I went to the bookstore the other day for no real reason (as one does sometimes) and I decided to get a few book. By a few I mean five. I got five books. I was intending when I went into the bookstore on getting the next two books in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. I read the first one and I just loved it, so I picked up 2 and 3 for now with the intent on getting the other ones a little later. The other three books I picked up as I was wandering around. I honestly was just killing time while I waited for my Home Depot order to be ready for pick-up. They’re not far from each other so it’s a great excuse to pop into the bookstore. I guess that means I did have a reason. My bad.

This book is the 2nd book in Dungeon Crawler Carl and probably a book that will be on my TBR next month. I loved the first book and I’m super excited to see where the next one goes.

Synopsis from Goodreads

“The training levels have concluded. Now the games may truly begin.”

The ratings and views are off the chart. The fans just can’t get enough. The dungeon gets more dangerous each day. But in a grinder designed to chew up and spit out crawlers by the millions, Carl and Princess Donut need to work harder than ever just to survive.

They call it the Over City. A sprawling, once-thriving metropolis devastated by a mysterious calamity. But these streets are far from abandoned. An undead circus trawls the ruins. Murdered prostitutes rain from the sky. An ancient spell is finally ready to reveal its dark purpose.

Carl still has no pants.

They call it Dungeon Crawler World. For Carl and Donut, it’s anything but a game.

The 3rd book in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. I thought that maybe buying just the next two would be more financially responsible than buying all that is currently out…and then I bought 3 more books.

Synopsis from Goodreads

The top ten list is populated. The sponsorship program is open. The difficulty is ramping up. The first three floors were nothing compared to what Carl and Donut now face.

The Iron Tangle. An impossibly-complicated subway system built out of the world’s subterranean railway systems, all combined and then tied together into a knot. Up is down. Down is up. Close is far. The cars are filled with monsters, the railway stations are less than safe, and the exit is always just a few stops away.

But there is hope. For the first time, the crawlers are all working together. The loot is better than ever. And the secret to unraveling it all may be hidden in the pages of a seemingly-useless book. Welcome, crawlers. Welcome to the fourth floor of the dungeon.

T. Kingfisher is an automatic buy for me. I have loved everything that she has written so far and finding an author like that is the best. I saw this edition with it’s teal sprayed edges at the bookstore and I just couldn’t leave it alone on the shelf.

Synopsis from Goodreads

Halla is a housekeeper who has suddenly inherited her great-uncle’s estate… and, unfortunately, his relatives. Sarkis is an immortal swordsman trapped in a prison of enchanted steel. When Halla draws the sword that imprisons him, Sarkis finds himself attempting to defend his new wielder against everything from bandits and roving inquisitors to her own in-laws… and the sword itself may prove to be the greatest threat of all.

I know absolutely nothing about this book but the cover and the stenciled edges on this called my name. It’s also the only paperback I purchased weirdly enough. I did, of course, read the synopsis on the back and I got about as far as Beauty and the Beast meets Labyrinth before I added it to the stack.

Synopsis from Goodreads

This special paperback features cover effects, interior character art, and digital sprayed edges.

Labyrinth meets Beauty and the Beast in this spellbinding, sexy romantasy debut about a woman with a broken heart, the seductive immortal who imprisons her, the magical labyrinth that may be her salvation, and the dangerous attraction that could destroy them both.

Her freedom or her heart…in forty-eight hours, she’ll lose one forever

When a brutal betrayal leaves Nell heartbroken and alone, she makes a desperate wish for love, recklessly offering anything in exchange.

Her plea is heard by Enver, an immortal as wicked as he is beautiful. He sweeps Nell away to his castle that seems to exist out of time and presents her with a bargain: escape his labyrinth within forty-eight hours or surrender to eternity as his lover.

Nell vows to conquer the labyrinth, despite the dangerous attraction she feels for its monstrous ruler. But every stolen moment with him leaves her craving more. And every step deeper into the castle reveals hidden truths about herself…and the curse that holds Enver captive.

Torn between her desire for love and the dark being incapable of loving her, Nell faces an impossible choice. And her time is running out.

Unlike the previous book, I have heard so much about this book. I haven’t read a Joe Abercrombie book yet and I don’t know if this is the one to start with, but it’s the one I bought so here we are. It does have good ratings and I didn’t look at the synopsis. Actually, I told myself if I could find a copy of this book while I was at the bookstore it would be the last book I put in my stack and I’d checkout and leave with my stack. Needless to say, this was the fifth book.

Synopsis from Goodreads

Holy work sometimes requires unholy deeds.

Brother Diaz has been summoned to the Sacred City, where he is certain a commendation and grand holy assignment awaits him. But his new flock is made up of unrepentant murderers, practitioners of ghastly magic, and outright monsters. The mission he is tasked with will require bloody measures from them all in order to achieve its righteous ends.

Elves lurk at our borders and hunger for our flesh, while greedy princes care for nothing but their own ambitions and comfort. With a hellish journey before him, it’s a good thing Brother Diaz has the devils on his side.

So that’s it! There is my haul. If I ever get around to reading these books before I forget I’ve made an entire blog post about them, I’ll update this post with a link to the review. I’m reading about 2 books a month right now so I’m not sure if that will happen anytime soon, but we will find out!

What are some books that you’ve picked up lately that you’re excited to read?

Bye friends! Until next time!!

Thank you! I’m particularly excited about the Dungeon Crawler Carl books and the Joe Abercrombie book. My wallet, however, is not so excited.
