Hello friends!!
So July right? It was a month that happened. A lot happened in this month and not a lot of it was me reading unfortunately. Bright side, I read a book I really enjoy that you don’t know about yet *insert sinister laughter here*. Ever wonder what someone else’s default sinister laugh is like inside their head? Just me?
Anywhoooo. I read one ARC and one physical book this month. It was pretty busy month. I did miss a blog post and if you read last weeks blog post you know that’s because my partner and I decided to adopt a dog. A lot of my time was spent making many trips to the pet store to get supplies and I now take daily walks (which I both love and hate). I’ve also spent a lot of time just letting the dog, Rex, get used to the house and to myself and my partner. It’s been a busy month.
So lets take a look at the stats!

June Stats
| # Books | Pages | Series Started | Series Finished | 5 Stars | eBook | Paper | Unhaul | Buy |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | 1211 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 4 | 0 | 6 |
July Stats
| # Books | Pages | Series Started | Series Finished | 5 Stars | eBook | Paper | Unhaul | Buy |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 731 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 3 |
That’s a pretty big difference between June and July, however, I did do my reading marathon in June and on average I read about 2 books a month (though I do hope to try and increase that in the future). I read an ARC from NetGalley titled “A Spell for Drowning” which I have reviewed (you can find that review HERE). I also read the first book in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series aptly titled “Dungeon Crawler Carl”. I haven’t written my review of that book yet, but it is on the way!
On another note, I seem to keep starting series and never finishing any of them, so I might have to switch my focus up one of these months and maybe look at trying to finish a series one month. If I pick a trilogy, it should be doable considering my average book consumption rate of 2/month. I’ll have to look through what I have because I don’t know if I own all of the books for each series I have started so this might actually be trickier than I initially thought. I’ll keep you all updated though!! This month, the TBR will be small most likely but I hope the reads will be enjoyable!

So I have two picks that are already set in stone that I have not acquired through my TBR Tin of Doom, however, I will be picking one book from the Doom Tin in case I finish the first two books quite quickly.
Book 1~~~
It is here that I am happy to announce to you all that I have been selected to receive the ARC copy of “Death of the Glass Angel” by Riley Knight. I actually started just the very first part of this book this morning and it seems very promising! I am excited to read it in full.

Book 2~~~
This book I had ordered off of the TikTok shop but I know you can find her books in a variety of places including her own website and Amazon. She will occasionally have absolutely beautiful editions of some of her books available for sale and if you enjoy that, then I highly recommend checking out her TikTok so you can see what they look like. Her standard editions are also absolutely wonderful with fantastic cover art. I was also pleasantly surprised to find out that she is from Maine, the state I have lived in my whole life!
The book in question is “Whispers of the Deep” by Emma Hamm! This is a monster romance between a human and a merman and a series that is about 4 books long I believe. I have wanted to get it for quite a long time now and I finally bit the bullet! I am excited to start this series and also to support a local author!

Synopsis from Goodreads
One of the many engineers that keeps Beta, the city under the sea, running, Mira only wants to make her family proud and to prove herself worthy. She knows the mysterious city better than anyone and it’s her dream to help it flourish.
But then, on a solo job in an abandoned section of the city, she encounters a monster of legend. An undine. A dangerous merman from an ancient civilization, long forgotten.
Arges has fought his entire life for his people. With deadly creatures under his control, he plans to eradicate Beta once and for all to protect his kind and their peaceful way of life. But when a human woman saves him, she unknowingly creates a bond between them, one he can’t ignore. Even though her flaming red hair haunts his dreams, he needs her for information on the undine’s enemies.
So he steals her. Keeps her. Feeds her. Only to realize their bond is far deeper than captor and captive. He cannot let her go—but he cannot keep her under the sea. In a battle to determine if love can survive a war beneath the waves, it will be their decision that changes the tides.
Book 3~~~
Time for the TBR Tin pick! This is only if I can manage to read the two books and have time for a third (which I hope I do). I believe there are a few that I have recently purchased that have no yet made it into the tin, so those are out of contention for this go around. That just means that some of the older books will finally have a chance to shine!
And the in has selected….

I’ll be honest, I don’t know a lot about this book other than that it is an academic setting and I like the cover! This will be my first Alexis Henderson book and I am going into it completely empty. Honestly, I might just have this remain on the TBR list even if it’s not going to get finished this month. I know. Breaking my own rules. On the bright side, this is NOT a series (*insert sigh of relief here*) so I don’t have to worry about adding another 4 or 5 books to my wish list.
Synopsis from Goodreads
Lennon Carter’s life is falling apart.
Then she gets a mysterious phone call inviting her to take the entrance exam for Drayton College, a school of magic hidden in a secret pocket of Savannah. Lennon has been chosen because—like everyone else at the school—she has the innate gift of persuasion, the ability to wield her will like a weapon, using it to control others and, in rare cases, matter itself.
After passing the test, Lennon begins to learn how to master her devastating and unsettling power. But despite persuasion’s heavy toll on her body and mind, she is wholly captivated by her studies, by Drayton’s lush, moss-draped campus, and by her brilliant classmates. But even more captivating is her charismatic adviser, Dante, who both intimidates and enthralls her.
As Lennon continues in her studies her control grows, and she starts to uncover more about the secret world she has entered into, including the disquieting history of Drayton College, and the way her mentor’s tragic and violent past intertwines with it. She is increasingly disturbed by what she learns. For it seems that the ultimate test is to embrace absolute power without succumbing to corruption . . . and it’s a test she’s terrified she is going to fail.
And that’s it for todays blog post! I hope you all enjoyed reading the post today. I’m working on a few more because I am behind on reviews but, that’s the way the world goes sometimes! I appreciate each and every one of you who takes the time to stop by and leave a like or a comment. I really hope to keep building up this blog and you all help!
Until next time!
Bye friends!!!
