“Potatoes are by far the most versatile crop. You can fry them up, bake them, or throw them at undesirable men who refuse to leave you alone.”
–Kimberly Lemming, That Time I Got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a Werewolf
Alright, lets confront the elephant in the room right, this series isn’t done. This is a review of the series as it stands so far. As a note, these opinions are solely my own and honestly I don’t know that I would waste my time reading a series I don’t enjoy so if you’re here to see if this series is crap…it’s not.
Spoiler: I love it.
So lets get some data out of the way because honestly, I just love some good quick data.
- Author: Kimberly Lemming
- Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Monster
- Spice: Yes, but it’s not the main point of the books – but the spice is spicing
- Trigger Warnings: They are listed in the front of each book. As always, read your trigger warnings.
- Average Book Length: ~235 pages with the longest book around 260 pages
- Series Length: 3 books, 2 novellas, more on the way!
Now that the data is out of the way, lets talk about the books. I picked up the first book in the series on a whim and because honestly, the title was just pulling me in. It was giving, I’m a fun time so you should check me out. And it was! A fun time, I mean. The first book is “That Time I Got Drunk and Saved A Demon”. Honestly, say no more. I’m sold.

Each book, so far, is centered around women from the town of Boohail and a “monster” falling in love. We’ve had a younger dragon, a werewolf, and an older dragon each finding their mates and, rather clumsily, trying to make said mates love them. The characters in these stories are lovable and fun. They are people that you can see yourself hanging out with on a Saturday night but they live in a fantasy world. One of the female main characters (FMC), loves her monster romance. That’s my kind of girl!!
“I had only two things on my mind; cheese and how to get home.”
Kimberly Lemming, That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon
These books are silly, fun, lovable and just a good time. They are quick reads and ones that I will definitely pick up and read again. For me, that’s the difference between a 5 Star and a 4 Star and I’ve given each one of these 5 stars.
If you don’t like the idea of someone falling in love with a dragon shapeshifter, foul language, or comedy in your fantasy, then this isn’t going to be the series for you. If all of that sounds like a damn good time, I fully encourage you to pick up the series. If you want to see my reviews of the second and third book, head on over to my Goodreads. Why only those two? I re-did my Goodreads a while back and I don’t know that I reviewed the first one at that point if I’m honest but know that I loved it!
